Bentonite clay benefits your body by helping to expel many toxins and therefore increases immunity and reduces inflammation. Bentonite clay is also known to have many of the minerals needed for the body to maintain health including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron, and potassium. It is also used on the skin to heal various ailments such as Eczema, Dermatitis, and Psoriasis.
When used as a clay mask, the clay is able to bind to bacteria and toxins on the surface of the skin and in pores to extract them. This helps reduce the appearance of blemishes, ease redness, and fight allergic reactions from irritation.
Moroccan Rhassoul Clay decreases dryness, enhances skin clarity and elasticity, and removes surface oil and oil from inside and around clogged hair follicles. It removes impurities and unblocks pores, even stubborn blackheads, resulting in a general smoothing of the surface skin. Because of its properties Rhassoul clay is recommended only for those with oily skin. For others it may over dry the skin.
Like many of our other products honey is a humectant – meaning it draws water to the skin to hold moisture. Honey is also an antioxidant and antibacterial when used internally and topically on the skin and speeds the healing time of cuts, bruises, and bug bites. The Skin Care Resource Center has also reported that honey can be used as a natural form of sunscreen.
Using milk in your soap as opposed to water is better for you for many reasons. It gives your skin the added benefit of:
Alpha Hydroxy Acids – which help remove dead skin cells
Vitamins – especially Vitamin A which reduces lines and wrinkles, controls acne, and provides psoriasis and eczema relief
Cream – fat molecules which make up the moisturizing qualities of well-made soap. This is especially necessary for those who suffer from dry skin (and more so in the winter months)
Minerals – selenium in particular is believed by scientists to be important in preventing skin cancer.
Shea Butter provides a ridiculous variety of benefits for the skin. Check it out:
Repairs wrinkles, fine lines and scars

Strengthens, protects, and regenerates skin
Provides UV protection
Stimulates collagen production which makes the skin stronger, and suppler and younger looking.
Heals minor cuts and burns, and muscle aches
Enhances physical endurance
Optiphen is the first globally approved paraben and formaldehyde-free preservative. Optiphen is a unique liquid preservative that consists of phenoxyethanol in an emollient base. The combination of these ingredients provides optimized protection against microbial growth from bacteria and yeast while imparting a pleasant feel to the finished product.
Fragrance vs Essential Oils
Wild Texas Soaps uses high quality fragrance oils. The difference in quality means that the level of alcohol used in the fragrance oil is low to avoid skin irritation. Essential oils are not always chemically stable and in some cases may cause severe allergic reactions because of their organic nature. In addition, essential oils are not always in season and are therefore not always available.
