This is the first post on our brand new website. So it was actually very difficult for me to write. First I want to show you how amazing goat’s milk soap is. But how do I do that without sounding like a door-to-door sales person or one of those mall vendors chasing you down with a sample packet?
I also want to make a connection with you. You came to my website, in the sea of never ending internet! I want to make you feel special for being here. I want to show you how much I truly appreciate that you’ve chosen Wild Texas Soaps and give you something in return for making my day.
So guess I’ll start at the beginning, and we’ll just go from there. That’s how every relationship starts, right? So here goes…
My son was born in Hawaii. The air there is humid and a constant 80 degrees year round. It was paradise. But when he was 3 months old we moved to San Angelo, Texas. The climate couldn’t be more different. It’s dry and arid. There’s been a drought here for almost a century. The wind whips rough and mercilessly year round. The winter can’t make up its mind and will often begin at 25 degrees in the morning and end at 75 degrees in the afternoon. Needless to say, our skin was suffering.
Even the most sensitive store bought soap was causing irritation to the point that my son’s skin was broken and bleeding and I was using copious amounts of prescribed steroid cream to keep it under control (unsuccessfully). So I started doing some research and discovered the magic that is goat’s milk soap. More specifically, home-made goat’s milk soap. It was so easy to make that I kept going and kept experimenting trying to figure out what I liked and what worked for our sensitive skin. After just a week of bathing my son with the goat’s milk soap bars I started to see an improvement. By the end of the month his eczema was completely gone – in the dead of winter when it’s usually at its worst! I couldn’t believe it.
I never believed much about natural products being so far superior over store bought products. After all, if the FDA approve it and so many thousands of people buy and use it, it must be safe right? Well, yes it is safe. But does it work? I can’t speak for everyone, but no, it did not work for us. We began exclusively using our own home-made products. We used them for so long I forgot how much store bought soaps cost.
Then, recently, and because I wanted to give an honest account of our product quality on our website, I bought a store bought body wash and shampoo and conditioner to see how my skin and hair felt afterward compared to our own products.
I bought the same ones I used for years before we started making our own. All are well known for their high quality, moisture, sensitive skin aids, and hair restoration properties.
The second I stepped out of the shower and all the next day I was dry, tight, itchy, and miserable. That next evening, after I got home from work, I immediately jumped back into the shower and lathered up with our goat’s milk soap bars. My skin felt restored and comfortable again.
Why does it work though? You’ll just have to come back to find out in our next post.
Until Then – Stay Soapy!
